Project Safe is so grateful for everyone who chooses to donate to us. Our clients can get needed items at no cost from the thrift store and proceeds from sales to the general public directly support our mission to end domestic violence. With the new hours and the store being closed Sunday and Monday, people are dumping bags of donations and furniture, stacking them several feet high, blocking the doors and sidewalk. While the store is closed, people rifle through the bags and steal the donations or they often get ruined by weather and are soggy messes that cannot be salvaged. Even though Project Safe works hard to recycle unsalable items, we can’t recycle wet, mildew ridden clothing. The donations you make do not make it to the shelves and ultimately, don’t benefit Project Safe. To ensure that your donations benefit Project Safe, please only donate when the Thrift Store doors are open.
